  1. Do you do fundraisers?

YES, we LOVE to do fundraisers.  Our favorite is to design pieces for adopting families.  We can set it up in a few different ways.  After a $50 design fee* is collected (we use this fee to pay for additional supplies that need to be purchased to create your design and to cover the cost of time), we can:

    1.  Sell you pieces outright when a minimum quanity is purchased at a wholesale cost

    2.  We can add the item to our store and you can direct people to purchase directly from us.  The amount donated to your cause depends on the cost of the jewelry designed.  Typically, it's $9-12 per piece.  Because we have to make a donation, we do need to donate to a 501c3.

    3.  We can donate a percentage of our sales (excluding other fundraisers) to your adoption when your family name is mentioned when they purchase.  Again, funds do need to be directed to a 501c3.

*The design fee can be waived if we have 100% artistic freedom.  This basically means that once we create an item, it's the final product without adjustments.  Again, we just have to cover for our time.

  2. Will you make a jewelry donation to our fundraiser?

In most cases, yes.  We do have to limit the amount of donations we make to 3 per months.  Please send us an email and let us see what we can do for you!

General questions

  1. Are you fair trade?

Funky Fish has not gone through the Fair Trade certification, however, we pay our Ugandan Artisans a very fair wage.  On average, we pay them 5x the market rate for their designs.  The definition of Fair trade is:  "trade in which fair prices are paid to producers in developing countries"....and we do just that!  What we DON'T do is purchase product from the markets in Kampala and resell them.  We can't verify where that product is coming from or the wages that were paid in it's creation so we just don't feel right selling it.
